Memory Care

Assisted living facility offering private rooms and world-class care

The goal of memory care assisted living is to enable each resident to function at their highest level possible. We offer private rooms in a state-of-the-art facility, including a lovely, secure garden, and our recreational therapy takes its cue from the renowned Montessori teaching method. It’s an approach that focuses on providing residents a level of independence and on instilling feelings of success and worthiness.

Caregiver programs defined by activities

“Activities” means something broader than a specific action at a prescribed time. At Keswick’s memory care assisted living homes, activities encompasses everything our residents do during the course of the day.

Although there are some similarities among people suffering from Alzheimer’s, dementia and other memory impairments, it is their individuality that remains as their memory fades. This is why our caregivers prefer a person-centric approach in caring for our residents, where daily activities differ for each individual and focus on each person’s strengths.

The more we learn about our memory care assisted living residents, the better we can use the appropriate setting and level of dementia care to engage them in activities they enjoy, while establishing and maintaining routines. Here are a few examples of our recreational activities:

  • Exercise – A variety of styles of exercise, including walking, chair dancing, seated yoga, ball toss and Wii
  • Today’s Good News – Sharing of daily headlines and events
  • Musical Memories – Listening to music of specific eras to evoke pleasant memories, plus sing-a-longs and music trivia
  • Storytelling – Sharing of personal memories and family pictures, and book sharing
  • Trivia and games – Includes movie titles, sports and TV show categories, bingo, dominos and card games
  • Montessori activities – Independent, personalized projects for residents throughout the day. Trips outside the facility to parks, museums and local shopping via the Keswick van

Memory Care also has a designated floor designed for individuals who have behavioral needs beyond what one may typically find in a dementia setting. We provide state-of-the-art care for individuals whose needs require a greater level of support.
